MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons knocked St. Norbert out of first place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) standings with a 4-2 victory over the Green Knights. The Falcons soar to 7-1-2 on the year and leapfrog the Green and Gold with 13 points at 4-0-1. St. Norbert slides to 5-5-0 and 4-1-0 in the NACC.
The scoring started on Wednesday in the 11th minute when senior Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) tapped in a pass from senior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.).
The Green and Gold tied the match in the 27th minute when a loose ball in the box was put away.
Senior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) scored on a breakaway from an assist from Selena Esten.
After another SNC goal, Selena Esten found the back of the net off a pass from Karoline Haugland off a corner from senior Jordan Lafferty (Surprise, Ariz.).
Esten struck again six minutes later after Isabel Downs stole the ball back and found Esten open in the box.
Sophomore Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) kept the Falcons in the match with 13 saves on the evening.
The Green Knights held a 25-17 advantage in shots. Selena Esten finished with 10 shots against SNC.
The Falcons look to keep the ball rolling on Saturday at home against Rockford.
