Women's Soccer Downs Aurora

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team opened up Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday afternoon against the Black and Blue of Aurora. The Falcons soared to a 2-0 victory to improve to 4-1-1 on the year and to 1-0-0 in the NACC. Aurora remains winless on the young season at 0-2-3 and slinks to 0-1-0 in the conference.

Senior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) scored the goal as she crashed the six-yard box on a beautifully placed corner from senior Jordan Lafferty (Surprise, Ariz.) in the 17th minute.

Downs struck again in the 83rd minute when her original shot got past the keeper and Downs put a defender in the spin cycle and she threw the ball in the back of the net.  spin move after the original shot got past the goalie.

The CUW defense shined once again and held the Black and Blue to only four shots and two corners.

The reigning NACC Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Brooke Brage (Belgium, Wis.) showed why she is one of the best in the NACC and collected another clean sheet with three saves.

This is the first time in program history that the Falcons have defeated Aurora in back-to-back meetings.

Isabel Downs led the CUW attack with four of the 13 shots on Wednesday. This was the second multi-point performance of the year for Downs, the first being five points on two goals and an assist against Lake Forest.

The Falcons continue NACC play at home on Saturday against the Eagles of Benedictine.
