Falcons Shut Out Scarlet Hawks For the NACC Crown!

CHICAGO – The Falcons are champions again! The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer program won its fourth conference tournament title on Sunday afternoon at Illinois Tech. The Blue and White sank the Scarlet Hawks with a 1-0 victory.

"Our group showed tremendous character and togetherness throughout the match today," said head coach Ryan Middendorf. "They fought for one another and did not allow the pressures of the moment to overwhelm them.  IIT played an excellent match today.  We defended well and put just enough offensive pressure on their back line.  Brooke had another outstanding game and kept the lead for us.  I couldn't be happier for our team, especially our seniors."

This is the second Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament title for CUW with the other title coming in 2019. CUW also won the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament title in 1998 and 2004.

The Scarlet Hawks held a majority of the possession in the first 15 minutes of the match.

In the 16th minute, Sabrina Moore was fouled and senior Jordan Lafferty sent the ball into the box, a few Scarlet Hawks collided and sent the ball into their own net.

The Red and White continued to attack and had an 11-2 advantage in shots in the first half.

Illinois Tech continued the attack in the second half, but sophomore Brooke Braga added three more saves to her 10-save performance to secure the victory.

The Scarlet Hawks held a 20-6 advantage in shots on a windy day in the windy city. Senior Isabel Downs led CUW with two shots in the victory.

Sunday was the 14th shutout for Brooke Braga and the Concordia defense on the season. The 14 shutouts are a program record and rank second in the nation.

The Falcons will find out their next opponent on Monday afternoon in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Selection Show.
