Cardinals pull away from Falcons at CIT

MEQUON, Wis. – A one minute and 14-second stretch was what decided Saturday's contest, as Concordia Ann Arbor used a 7-3 scoring run to pull away from Concordia Wisconsin during the consolation game of the 67th Annual Concordia Invitational Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The scoreboard read 70-70 with just one minute and 14 seconds to go in the exhibition contest of the women's consolation game. Concordia Ann Arbor's Michell Murnen began the run with a 3-pointer, followed by a pair of Kari Borowiak free throws to go ahead by five points with 26 seconds remaining.
- The Cardinals than received a free throw by Katherine Snow and Borowiak to push the lead to a game-best seven points. Concordia Wisconsin's Arianna Liddicoat banked in a 3-pointer with three seconds to play, but it was too late.
- Despite making 23-of-28 free throws (82.1 percent) and owning a 43-36 rebounding advantage, Concordia Wisconsin wasn't able to put together the scoring run late they needed.
- Senior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) was named to the All-CIT team after recording her 11th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with two assists and two steals.
- Senior Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) also added a double-double, 11 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Baylee Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) scored 14 points (10-of-12 free throws) and dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds. Freshman Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) tallied 11 points, while Liddicoat (sophomore, Watertown, Wis.) had seven points. Sophomore Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.) ended with five points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes of work.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The game didn't count towards Concordia Wisconsin's overall record because it was designated as an exhibition game.

THE OPPOSITION
- Kari Borowiak led all scorers with 31 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 15-of-19 at the free throw line. She also had eight rebounds and three assists.
- Katherine Snow added nine points off the bench.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin returns to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play for the remainder of the regular season with a Tuesday matchup at 7 pm against Marian inside the R. John Buuck Field House.
