Falcons blow past Regents

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin was too much from start to finish on Tuesday night for Rockford to handle during a blowout 74-40 victory inside the R. John Buuck Field House. The win sets up a meeting in the regular season finale at Concordia Chicago with the No. 2 seed on the line for the NACC Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- An opening 23-5 first quarter, combined with an 18-4 third period showed how strong Concordia Wisconsin was on both ends of the court, as 16 players got into the game and 14 found the scoring column.
- The Falcons shot 50 percent in the first 10 minutes of play and limited the Regents to 13.3 percent en route to a commanding 23-5 lead. They knocked down a trio of long balls and scored nine points off turnovers to put the game in their favor.
- Concordia Wisconsin was convincing on the boards, owning a 45-25 advantage and corralling 11 offensive rebounds that were converted into 20 points. They also had 19 assists on 28 field goals.
- Seniors Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) had 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead all scorers. Freshman Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) ended with seven points and four assists off the bench, while sophomore Arianna Liddicoat (Watertown, Wis.) had five points, seven rebounds and two assists.
- Senior Kelsey Mazur (Reedsburg, Wis.) had six points, including a 3-pointer, in just seven minutes of action. Senior Elizabeth Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) recorded five points and a career-high six rebounds in 14 minutes.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin led wire-to-wire and by as many as 36 points in the victory.
- The Falcons bench tallied half of their 74 points.
-  Freshman Hannah Boettcher (Columbus, Wis.) and freshman Deovion Young (Milwaukee, Wis.) each scored their first career points as a Falcon.

THE OPPOSITION
- Nicole Silvers led the Regents with nine points, while Tajanae Key ended with eight points, four rebounds and four steals.
