Women’s Basketball defeats Alverno in road NACC game

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin led for nearly 35 minutes on Saturday night and received three double-digit scoring efforts en route to a 68-57 victory at Alverno during NACC play inside Reiman Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Midway through the opening quarter Concordia Wisconsin took the lead on a Clara Chambers 3-pointer and never looked back. The turning point was a 23-9 scoring run over a 12-minute stretch that covered half of the first quarter and most of the second period. Sophomore Arianna Liddicoat (Watertown, Wis.) scored the final eight points of the scoring spurt, including a pair of 3-pointers.
- The Falcons ended with a 44-33 rebounding advantage and hauled in 15 offensive rebounds, which were converted into 15 points.
- Concordia Wisconsin also turned the ball over just five times, which is the lowest total since a four-turnover game against Wisconsin Lutheran on February 23 of last season.
- Senior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) recorded another double-double, with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) scored a game-high-tying 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting (three 3-pointers)
- Liddicoat ended with 13 points, while Chambers (freshman, Mineral Point, Wis.) had eight points, six rebounds and three assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin shot a season-high 27 3-point attempts and a made seven.

THE OPPOSITION
- Karli Selear had a game-high-tying 22 points after making three 3-pointers and 9-of-11 free throws. Gabby Hood finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Mackenzie Mathies added 12 points.
