Women's Basketball adds Tatum to coaching staff

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Basketball program has added Deonte Tatum as an assistant coach. Tatum brings an impressive playing and coaching resume to the Falcons for the 2017-18 season.

We are excited to welcome Coach Tatum & his family to Women's Basketball," said Falcons head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones. "His excitement for the game of basketball is contagious."

Tatum, a Milwaukee native, has spent the past seven years coaching basketball, six at the high school level and one at the collegiate level. He has spent five of the six seasons in the high school ranks working at Milwaukee Vincent with both the boys and girls programs. Tatum also spent one season coaching at the Milwaukee School of Languages.

Tatum began his coaching career as a student assistant at the University of Hawaii, following a two-year playing career with the program. He landed in Hawaii after playing two years at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa.

"I expect a lot from my assistants and he fought hard for this position, I was impressed with that, " said Brunner-Jones. "Deonte brings a lot of experience as an assistant, head coach and as a recruiter and is anxious to start working with our team."

The new Falcons assistant was a former local high school standout at Milwaukee Vincent, helping lead the Vikings to back-to-back WIAA Division 1 State Championships in 2000 and 2001. In 2001, Tatum was named the MVP of the Division 1 Boy's State Basketball Tournament.

Tatum and his wife Jenny have three daughters, Neveah, Paityn, and Selah.
