NEWSWORTHY NOTES
• GROUNDING THE EAGLES:
Concordia Wisconsin has outflown Edgewood over the past seven years, winning 13 games in a row. During that span, the Falcons have outscored the Eagles by an average of 14.5 points per game. CUW won the last matchup 80-39 at home with 13 points and nine rebounds coming from Audrey Scharmer.
• FREE IS GOOD: They always say that free throws are one of the easiest shots in the game and Concordia Wisconsin has proven that through four games. They are shooting 77.6 percent at the charity stripe, which is ranked fifth nationally and leads the NACC. Clara Chambers leads the team at 91.7 percent at the free throw line (11-of-12).
• AN IMPORTANT STRETCH: The next four games are important for the Falcons for a variety of reasons. They are all NACC contests and early momentum in league play is critical, and gaining wins entering a difficult Las Vegas Hoopla tournament would give them added confidence.
• CHAMBERS HOMETOWN PARTY: Clara Chambers played in front of a hometown crowd on Wednesday night, being from Darlington, Wis., just 30 minutes from UW-Platteville. The redshirt freshman netted a career-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting (7-of-8 free throws). The guard also had 11 points last season against the Pioneers.
• SCOUTING EDGEWOOD: Edgewood began the year with back-to-back victories before falling on hard times with three-straight losses entering Saturday. The Eagles average 82.5 points in wins, but just 48.7 in losses. Delaney Wilhelm has risen to be the team's leading scorer at 11.0 per game and has tallied 16 points in each of their last two games.
