Women's Basketball dominates paint in victory over Dominican

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin controlled the area around the basket, scoring 42 points in the paint, en route to a commanding 65-45 victory over Dominican on Saturday during NACC action inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- At one point in the opening quarter, Concordia Wisconsin scored six-consecutive field goals in the paint as they make a point of controlling the area around the basket. They tallied 14 points in the paint during the first 10 minutes of play and 42 in the contest.
- Coupled with a stellar team defensive effort that limited Dominican to just 26.6 percent from the field, allowed the Falcons to remain atop the NACC standings as one of four remaining undefeated teams.
- Concordia Wisconsin led by 11 points after the opening quarter and 21 at halftime. They led for over 36 minutes in the game and had three players score in double-figures.
- Junior Baylee Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) led the Falcons with 16 points (7-of-8 free throws), while senior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) netted 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and stole two passes.
- Senior Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) ended with 13 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes of action. Sophomore Arianna Liddicoat (Watertown, Wis.) had seven points and three steals off the bench and starter Marciarae' Harmon (junior, Milwaukee, Wis.) had six points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Dominican entered as the NACC's best rebounding team and won the battle of missed shots 52-43, including grabbing 21 offensive rebounds. The Stars scored 11 second-chance points.
- The Falcons forced the Stars into 17 turnovers and scored 21 points off those errors. Meanwhile, they committed just seven turnovers of their own.
- Concordia Wisconsin has won 19-straight games over Dominican, all by an average of 24 points.

THE OPPOSITION
- Alexis Hoskins led all players with 15 rebounds (four offensive), while Timiya Ray recorded a double-double (game-high 17 points, 10 rebounds) to go along with three blocks.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin travels to Rockford on Saturday, December 16 for a 4:15 pm to complete a NACC doubleheader.
