Falcon women travel to Maranatha Tuesday/ The Scouting Report
MEQUON, Wis.- It's "Crunch Time" for the CUW women's basketball team, and host Maranatha will provide a playoff atmosphere when the Crusaders, 8-4 in the NAC North, host CUW Tuesday at 7:00pm.
Stacey Brunner-Jones' team (11-2) has a two game lead in the conference standings with five to play, but Alverno (9-4) would rejoin Maranatha in the title picture if Concordia loses tomorrow evening.
Marantha scored off a steal in the final two seconds to defeat CUW 52-50 in Mequon in the teams' only meeting this season. Laci Peterson, MBBC's leading scorer, made the steal and scored the game -winner.
Peterson teamed with Torey DeLozier to shut down the Falcon's inside game in that meeting. Maranatha's defense is the best in the NAC, holding opponents to 32% shooting and less than 53 points per game.
Patient MBBC scores 60 points per contest and shoots at a 40% clip. Besides Peterson and DeLozier, Hallie Schmidt, Autumn Peotter, and Kristin Morrison are all capable of double figure performances.
