Falcon women travel to Alverno Saturday evening/Scouting Report

MEQUON, Wis.-  Looking for some improved offense, Stacey Brunner-Jones' Falcons (1-1) will travel to Alverno College for their 2012-13 NAC opener Saturday evening.

Concordia University Wisconsin was the coaches' choice for first place in the NAC South, but CUW will need to shoot the ball at better than their current 37% from the floor and 19% from three point range to accomplish that goal.

Junior All-NAC returnee Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) has been the bright spot in the Falcon offense with 43 points in two games while shooting at a 43% clip.

CUW opponents have shot 40% from the field and have been to the charity stripe twice as often as the Falcons.  "We need to attack gaps and draw some fouls," emphasized Brunner-Jones.

Junior guards Anna Bateva (16 ppg) and Kristen Speerschneider (12.0) have provided the offense for Alverno to date.  The Inferno easily defeated St. Catherine 67-45 before losing to Stephens in overtime 60-52.

"They will play 2-3 zone and attempt to keep us on the perimeter," explained Brunner-Jones. "We have good shooters on this team, but we have rushed our shots in both games to date."

Saturday's game time is 7:00pm.
