Falcon women rout Aurora 81-60
AURORA, Ill.- Concordia Wisconsin, 8-2 in league play, went on the offensive this afternoon, scoring a season-high 81 points in the process of blowing past host Aurora 81-60.
Concordia had taken control of this contest by halftime, bolting to a 46-32 lead. The foul-prone Spartans sent CUW to the free throw line 33 times and the Falcons sank a terrific 27 of their 33 opportunities.
Junior Camille Parsons (Urbana, Ill.) topped CUW scoring with a 17 point performance, but was just one of five Falcons who reached double figures in this one-sided contest.
Katie Luethe (Jr./ Oshkosh, Wis.) added 14 and senior Brittany Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) tallied 12, while Anna Butler (Jr./ Kewaskum, Wis.) and freshman Megan Coenen (Pulaski, Wis.) each finished with 11. CUW shot a warm 46% from the field.
Parsons added six rebounds while Zietlow, Butler, and Luethe each snared five. Zietlow dished out seven separate assists. Red hot CUW improved to 10-5 overall with a fourth straight victory.
Aurora, 5-10 overall, was led by Ciara Marlow and Bethany Dorrington with 12 points each. Concordia outrebounded AU 36-33 and forced 23 Spartan turnovers.
With wins of their own, league rivals Alverno and Edgewood both improved to 7-2, just a half game behind the Falcons in the tight NAC North race.
