CUW Women's Basketball is both OLD and NEW

MEQUON, Wis.- Concordia Wisconsin returns four of their five starters from last season's 16-11 squad, but CUW still has a very new look as nine freshmen are listed on  the 15 player varsity roster. 

Senior Tiffany Hendrickson (Ingleside, Ill.) leads the experienced portion of the Falcon cast heading into the 2012-13 season. Hendrickson averaged 10 points per game for an offensively balanced CUW contingent, shooting a stellar 46% from beyond the arc and 85% from the charity stripe last season.  She has been a starter for three seasons and is just 119 points shy of the prestigeous 1000 point career mark.

Feisty senior point guard Brittany Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) also started all 27 games last season, averaging just under 10 points per outing and a team-high 31 minutes. 

Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.), a first team all conference choice last season, topped CUW in scoring with 13 points and 6.4 boards per outing, but the junior post player will need help inside.

Junior Camille Parsons (Urbana, Ill.) is the fourth returning regular for Brunner-Jones' squad. Coming back slowly from a serious knee injury the previous season, Parsons scored just less than six points per contest in 2011-12.

The two other returnees are springy junior guard Anna Butler (Kewaskum, Wis.) and sophomore shooting guard Hayley Peppers (Franktown, Co.)  Butler came off the bench to score only three points per game, but she aggressively pulled down 120 rebounds and averaged two assists.  Peppers appeared in 15 games, averaging about 1 point per conference outing.

With only those six returnees, head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones needed a strong recruiting class and she appears to have one.  "I don't want to put pressure on the freshmen at this point, but at least three of them will be part of our regular rotation," explained the eight year veteran who has compiled a 143-76 record, including four regular season titles and two NCAA appearances, while at CUW.
