Second period outburst by the Blugolds proves too much for Falcons
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - To score twelve goals over a four game stretch would be quite the feat for any hockey team at any level. The Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire accomplished this in just one game after a 12-4 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in this non-conference match-up at the Hobbs Ice center Saturday (Nov. 24) evening.
UW-Eau Claire (8-0-1; 5-0-1 NCHA) took a 2-1 lead over CUW (4-4-0; 4-2-0 MCHA) heading in to the second frame, but a barrage of six consecutive goals by the Blugolds put the Falcons away for good. Jordan Singer, Kurt Weston, Andrew MCcabe and Ross Anderson each scored two goal apiece for UW-Eau Claire, even though their team as a whole only outshot the Falcons by four 42-38 for the game.
Freshman defenseman Ryan Jaremko (Anoka, Minn.) scored two goals for the Falcons while junior forwards Russell Johnson (Monticello, Minn.) and Dan Schilts each chipped in a goal.
The Falcons will face the Bluegolds again tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 25) at the Hobbs Ice Center. The puck is set to drop at 2:00 p.m.
