Superior Sneaks Away in Overtime

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team battled for over 60 minutes on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets got away with a 3-2 overtime victory after never leading in the contest. The loss sends the Falcons to 3-4 on the season.

The Falcons struck first on Tuesday when freshman Riley Klugerman (Aurora, Ont.) found junior Nick Wieben (Mankato, Minn.) at the doorstep and he tapped it in on the power play. Sophomore Noah Roitman (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was also credited with a secondary assist.

The Yellow Jackets stung CUW with a goal in the final minute of the first period.

The Falcons struck again in the second period with a flurry of shots in front of the net with sophomore Dain Sardelli (Hebron, N.D.) with Riley Klugerman and freshman Sawyer Wirsing (Arundel, Maine) adding the assists.

The Black and Yellow tied the game on a five-on-three power play in the final minute of the second period.

Wisconsin-Superior had a handful of opportunities in the third period, including a penalty shot, but sophomore Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) made every save.

CUW had an opportunity on a breakaway to start overtime, but could not connect.

Superior ended the game on a breakaway down the left side of the ice.

The Yellow Jackets held a 41-22 advantage in shots on Tuesday.

Gabe Rosek finished with 38 saves.

The Falcons return to play in December at Adrian.
