Vikings Take Down Falcons

APPLETON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team returned to the ice Friday to take on the Vikings of Lawrence University.

The Falcons fell 8-0 dropping their record to 2-3-0, while their conference record now stands at 1-2-0.

The Vikings found the back of the net first, taking the 1-0 lead just 1:09 into the game.

Neither team would add another goal in the first period, keeping the score in Lawrence's advantage to 1-0 after one period of play.

In the second period, the Vikings scored five goals, two of which were on the powerplay, to secure a 6-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

Meanwhile, the third period saw the Vikings add some insurance, finding the back of the net twice to take the 8-0 victory over the Falcons.

In the loss, freshman Logan Kroyman (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) led the flock with four shots on goal, while freshman Matt Koepke (Vernon Hills, Ill.), sophomore Grant Newcomer (McFarland, Wis.), and sophomore Derek Humphreys (Spokane, Wash.) all had three goals.

Freshman Sawyer Wirsing (Arundel, Maine) also won 14 faceoffs.

Sophomore Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) totaled 21 saves, while freshman Blake Hazelton (Lake Orion, Mich.) recorded 16 saves in his collegiate debut.

CUW will have their opportunity to avenge this loss on Nov. 18th, when the Falcons will host the Vikings at the Ozaukee Ice Center at 7 p.m.
