Falcons Bested by No. 3 Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team fell to the No. 3 Adrian Bulldogs on Friday night, taking an 8-0 loss to the reigning NCAA Division III runners-up. The loss pushed the Falcons to 3-5 in the 2023-24 season and 2-3 in conference play.

The Bulldogs struck first on the scoreboard in the game's opening minute, as Jaden Shields put the puck into the net for Adrian. Shields would collect another goal in the first, as would Jacob Suede and Zachary Heintz to put the Bulldogs ahead 4-0.

Adrian would score thrice in the second period, an effort which included two goals from Heintz to collect a hat trick. The Falcons were able to generate multiple odd-man rushes to create scoring chances of their own, but were denied by Bulldogs goalie Dershahn Stewart.

Concordia stifled the red-hot Adrian offense in the third, holding the Bulldogs to a single tally on the scoresheet.

Sophomore netminder Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) recorded 25 saves on the evening, while freshman Blake Hazelton (Lake Orion, Mich.) also saw action for the Falcons, registering 12 stops towards a .923 save percentage.

Junior Seth Bergeron (Minneapolis, Minn.) and sophomore Derek Humphreys (Spokane, Wash.) recorded three shots apiece to lead Concordia skaters.

At the faceoff dot, junior Nick Wieben (Mankato, Minn.) saw the most success for the Falcons, winning five of six draws.

Concordia will be back in action on Saturday, December 2, with an opportunity to avenge the loss to Adrian in the second half of the back-to-back.
