Raiders Retain the Lake Michigan Cup

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Lake Michigan Cup will stay in Milwaukee for the year after the Raiders retained the trophy with a 5-1 victory. The Raiders completed the weekend sweep to send the Falcons to 2-13-2 on the year.

MSOE opened the game with four goals in the first period.

The lone CUW goal came in the second period off the stick of sophomore Sean Hofstetter (Columbia, Ill.) with sophomore Jordan Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) and senior Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) earning the assists.

The Raiders added one more goal in the third period.

Sophomore Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.) was kept busy during the evening with 48 saves against the Red and White.

MSOE outshot CUW on Saturday night, 53-23. Junior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) led the flock with six shots.

The Falcons were able to kill off all six penalty kill opportunities on Saturday.

The Blue and White return home to host the Bulldogs of Adrian on Friday and Saturday.
