MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons men's hockey team took on the Lake Forest Foresters on Saturday night inside the Ozaukee Ice Center to open the 2022 portion of their season.
The first period came and went with no score.
The Foresters netted the first goal of the contest in the third minute of the second period.
Senior Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) tied the game at one on the power play with assists from sophomore Spencer Milne (Edmonton, Alta.) and senior Salvatore Scalise (Calgary, Alta.).
The Falcons eyed overtime going into the closing minutes of the third period, but that was thwarted by the Foresters in the 18th minute giving them the 2-1 advantage.
Sophomore Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.) recorded 53 saves against the Foresters.
The Falcons turn their attention toward Monday's game where they look to avenge their loss in a must-win matchup for the Border Battle Cup.
