Third Period Freezes Falcons at MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Falcons fell short on Friday night at MSOE in an NCHA matchup. The Falcons led 2-1 heading into the third, but penalties proved to be costly and the Raiders defended home ice with a 5-2 victory to send CUW to 2-12-2 on the year.

The Raiders opened the scoring on Friday with a first-period goal.

In the second period, freshman Justin Schwartzmiller (Fond du Lac, Wis.) leveled the game off a pass from freshman Zach Brydges (Woodbury, Wis.).

Three minutes later, sophomore Sean Hofstetter (Columbia, Ill.) scored on the power play with an assist to freshman Joshua Maine (Tecumseh, Ont.).

The Raiders rallied with four goals in the third period to secure the victory.

MSOE held a 47-23 advantage in shots on Friday and scored four times on the power play.

Sophomore Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.) recorded 42 saves on the evening.

Senior Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) and sophomore Jacob Shankar (Johnstown, Ont.) led the flock with four shots.

The Falcons will need to post a victory on Saturday at MSOE to try to take back the Lake Michigan Cup.
