Men's Basketball announces postseason team awards

MEQUON, Wis. -- It was another banner year for Concordia Wisconsin Men's Basketball, as they won the NACC Tournament Championship to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history. An extensive list of memorable and highlight-reel moments were created during the season.

Below a list of the team awards announced by the Falcons:

Most Valuable Player
Jordan Johnson | G | Jr. | Cedarburg, Wis.

The 6-foot- 6 guard was an All-NACC First Team honoree and three times was named NACC Player of the Week. He ranked top-76 nationally in eight categories. His 560 points (19.3 per game); which led the team, ranked second in the NACC and 38th nationally, were the second-most points scored in a season in program history and were 20 short of tying the record. Johnson made 201 field goals and had 418 field goal attempts, which were both single-season records. His 85.2 free-throw percentage (127-of-149) ranked fourth in the NACC. The Falcon leader scored 20-plus points 13 times, 30-plus points four times and scored a program-record 45 points on 16-of-26 shooting (five 3-pointers) in a NACC Tournament game at Wisconsin Lutheran, which also set the record for points in a NACC Tournament game and tied the NACC single-game scoring record. He also had three double-doubles.

Defensive Player of the Year
Olalekan George | F | Sr. | Milwaukee, Wis.

The 6-foot-3 forward was a lockdown defender for the Falcons throughout the season, leading the team in blocks with 24. He also had 40 steals and a double-double. The senior recorded a rejection in 16 games and rejected a career-best four shots in a home win over Aurora in early December. He also stole multiple passes in 11 games, including a career-high five in a game at Wisconsin Lutheran in late November.

Most Improved Player
Brandon Keller | F | So. | Plymouth, Wis.

The 6-foot-7 forward skyrocketed his play during the second year of his career, improving his points per game from 3.6 last season to 11.6 this year on 58.3 percent shooting (ranked third in the NACC). His rebounding average went from 2.0 per contest to 7.3 this season. The sophomore started all 29 games, grabbed a team-high and the fourth-most rebounds (213) in the NACC. Keller posted six double-doubles and scored in double-figures in 22 games, including a career-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting at Edgewood in early January.

Rookie of the Year
Grant Karsten | G | Fr. | Decatur, Ill.

The 6-foot-3 rookie appeared in 27 games and averaged 2.4 points per contest. He did the majority of his damage from distance by making 39.5 percent (17-of-43) from beyond the 3-point line. Karsten scored in double-figures twice, including a season-high 12 points (four 3-pointers) against Illinois Tech (February 25).
