Jurss has career game, Falcons defeat Coe in OT

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Jared Jurss seized the moment on Friday afternoon, scoring the game-tying layup off a sideline inbounds play to send the game into overtime against Coe. He then drained a 3-pointer to begin overtime to spur a Concordia Wisconsin 10-3 scoring run that would eventually lead to a 91-86 victory.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 91, Coe 86 OT
Location: Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Records: Concordia Wisconsin 5-3, Coe 5-5

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jurss passed the ball to Brandon Keller on top of the 3-point line and faked before cutting back door. He received a perfect bounce pass and made an up-and-under layup off the glass to tie the game as the buzzer sounded at the end of regulation. The sophomore continued his career game by making a 3-pointer to begin overtime and eventually a par of free throws late to seal the win.
- The Sheboygan, Wisconsin native has had some noteworthy games in his young career and this one adds to the list, as he finished with a career-high 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting (three 3-pointers) to go along with 10 assists (just two turnovers).
- Concordia Wisconsin jumped all over Coe in the early going, leading 10-0 and 23-11 through nine-plus minutes of action. They would cool off and lead by a point, 37-36, at the intermission. The Kohawks would lead by as many as nine points in the second half before the Falcons put together a 5-1 scoring run over the final 3:51 of the game to send it to overtime.
- In the extra period, Concordia Wisconsin made 11-of-17 free throws. They won the rebounding battle (47-40), but the Coe bench led 25-6 in bench production.
- Junior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) scored 20 points, hauled in 13 rebounds and had four assists, while Keller (sophomore, Plymouth, Wis.) had 14 points, 13 rebounds and three steals.
- Senior Olalekan George (Milwaukee, Wis.) and junior Joey Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) each scored 11 points and combined for 16 rebounds. George also stole four passes.
- Coe was led by Adam McDermott who had 22 points, while Jacob Robertson recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds.
- The victory is the fourth in a row for the Falcons after starting the season 1-3. They have also won three-straight overtime games.
