Baseball places two on All-NAC teams

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Junior right-handed pitcher Andrew Mueller and senior infielder Daniel Mueller received All-Northern Athletics Conference recognition for the Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball team, as the league released its postseason awards for the 2013 season Thursday.

Both Muellers' played a key part in the Falcons earning the fifth-seed in the NAC Tournament, which is scheduled to begin Thursday at Kapco Park, hosted by CUW. Andrew earned Second Team All-NAC honors, while Daniel received Honorable Mention recognition.

Andrew Mueller (Horicon, Wis.) was the ace of the CUW staff all season as he tied for the conference lead in complete games with six. He finished seventh in the NAC and led the Falcons with a 2.69 ERA while punching out 42 batters in 77 innings of work. A. Mueller was at his best this past Saturday against Marian University as he tossed a complete game shutout, helping CUW into the conference tournament.

Daniel Mueller (West Bend, Wis.) was the Falcons lone senior in 2013 and also was the top offensive threat on the squad. The infielder led CUW in hits (53), at-bats (151), runs (33), doubles (10), RBIs (27) and batting average (.351). His 53 hits tied for seventh best in the NAC this season, while his 33 runs tied for eighth in the NAC.

The two Muellers' and the rest of the Falcons will begin NAC Tournament play this afternoon when they take on second-seeded Benedictine University at 4 p.m. The six-team tournament will follow the double elimination format, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.
