Baseball falls victim to late Elmhurst rally

AUBURNDALE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin baseball team dropped a fourth straight contest in Florida as Elmhurst College rallied for a 6-4 victory Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons held a 4-3 lead in the 8th inning before Elmhurst rallied for three runs, allowing the Bluejays to escape with the 6-3 victory. Sophomore Colin Bernreuter (Frakenmuth, Mich.)took the loss in relief for CUW.

A pair of Falcon players recorded two hits as senior Daniel Mueller (West Bend, Wis.) and sophomore Joel Sharon (Glendale, Wis.) each reached base twice via base hit. The CUW defense also played its best game of the trip yet, committing just one error. Final statistics for the game have not yet been provided.

CUW (0-4) will return to the diamond tomorrow when they take on Trinity College at 10 a.m. EDT. Trinity is receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com poll.
