Falcons Finish Season in Hap Cup Semifinals

Fond Du Lac, Wis. – The CUW ACHA team met the end of the road on Friday night in the Hap Cup Semifinals.

The Sabres lit the lamp in the first period and took the one-goal lead.

The Falcons tied it up on a power-play goal off the stick of junior Connor Doyle (Naples, Fla.). 

Doyle was assisted sophomore John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.). This was the only Falcon power-play goal.

The team went into the first break tied at one.

The Sabres netted two goals to start the second period and ended it with one more to take the 4-1 lead going into the final frame.  

In the third period, the Falcons netted an even-strength goal off the stick of freshman Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.). Wilderman was assisted by his brother Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.) as well as junior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.).

The Sabres buried an empty-net goal with 0.8 seconds left in the game to take the 5-2 victory.

The Falcons end their season with a 15-13-1 regular-season record for the 2021-22 season.
