ACHA Finishes Road Trip to Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – The ACHA hockey team finished its road weekend against the Redbirds of Illinois State.

The Redbirds jumped out to a quick start scoring two goals in the first period.

The Falcons started to mount a comeback when they scored their first goal off the stick of sophomore Nick Roberts (Milwaukee, Wis.) with helpers from freshman Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) and freshman Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.). 

The Redbirds came back, scoring their third goal 74 seconds later improving their lead to 3-1.

The Falcons scored another goal later in the second period by Tommy Cassel.

The third period saw seven Falcons shots on goal, but none found the net, leaving the final score at 2-3 in favor of the Redbirds.

Junior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) posted 27 saves in the game, to give him a total of 50 on the weekend.

The Falcons continue their road stretch at Florida Gulf Coast next weekend.
