ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia Wisconsin finished its best season in program history on Thursday afternoon, with a spirited effort that ended with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 27-25) defeat to No. 1 Cal Lutheran in the NCAA Tournament opening round.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin did what no other team had done in the program's history, advancing to the NCAA Tournament, and improved and show resiliency as each point was scored.
- The Falcons showed the Falcon faithful in attendance its best play during the third and final set. They took the top-ranked team and defending NCAA National Champions to extra points, 27-25.
- Concordia Wisconsin also had its hitting percentage get better as each set passed. They had a -.133 attack percentage in the opener, .050 in the second and a .093 in the final set.
- Freshman Megan Mayer (Downers Grove, Ill.) led the Falcons with 12 kills, while four of her teammates had four kills.
- Senior Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) completed the final match of her career with 16 assists and nine digs.
- Sophomore Lindsey Casper (Hubertus, Wis.) led the team with 12 digs, while six blockers had at least two block assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons finished the season with 22 victories, which is the fourth highest win total in a single season and the second time they have 20-plus wins during head coach Janelle Katz's tenure.
- Klotz ends her career with 2,121, which is third all-time in program history. She also has 99 service aces to finish with the fourth most assists as a Falcon.
- Junior Kaily Moegenburg (Plymouth, Wis.) moved into eighth place all-time in program history with 719 kills.
- Junior Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) is now seventh all-time with 277 total blocks.
- Concordia Wisconsin played four nationally ranked teams this season.
THE OPPOSITION
- Cal Lutheran was led by Hope Stewart who had 10 kills, nine digs and three block assists.
- Sarah Pappas tallied nine kills and six block assists, while Michelle Lawrence had seven kills, 10 digs and five block assists.
- Jamie Smith posted 36 assists.
