Balance shines in Falcons sweep over Lake Forest

MEQUON, Wis. – It didn't take long to see Concordia Wisconsin's balance was going to be a problem for Lake Forest on Tuesday evening, as the Falcons would earn a convincing 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-20) non-conference victory inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons jumped all over the Foresters and led 14-7 midway through the opening set and extended the advantage to 23-9 before closing the door in the first frame.
- Concordia Wisconsin would continue to show its balance and depth during the second set, which featured a 7-0 scoring run that turned a one-point deficit into a 14-8 lead. They would go on to take the second frame, 25-16, and lead 2-0 in the non-league contest.
- Again a scoring run of 6-0 earned the Falcons momentum and forced the Foresters into a timeout midway through the closing set. They swept the Foresters in the match by capturing a 25-20 set win.
- Concordia Wisconsin dialed up nine service aces and hit .153 (36K-21E, 98A) in the match while limiting Lake Forest to a dismal -.011 (19K-20E-91A) hitting percentage.
- Overall, 14 players saw action on the court for the Falcons, with junior Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) smashing a match-high eight kills.
- Junior Terese Zymanek (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) had seven kills and sophomore Ashley Jehlicka (Salem, Wis.) led all players with 17 assists. Senior Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) added 12 assists and freshman Megan Mayer (Downers Grove, Ill.) served a trio of aces.
- Defensively, sophomore Lindsey Casper (Hubertus, Wis.) had 11 digs and was one of eight Falcons with at least three digs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin's sweep was the sixth of the season and they extend their home record to 3-0.
- The match lasted one hour and six minutes, which was the second quickest this season and the fastest at home.
- Freshman Holly Anderson (Grant Park, Ill.) had a season-high four kills and four digs.
- Freshman Kelsey Kleba (Hartland, Wis.) dug a season-best four attack attempts.

THE OPPOSITION
- Paige Jespersen and Brittany Avonts each had six kills, while Lexi Kleva had 15 assists.
- Anna Denslow added nine digs and Natalie Olson recorded two block assists.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons travel to Waverly, Iowa for the two-day four-match NACC-IIAC Crossover Challenge. They will compete against Coe, Buena Vista, Wartburg and Loras on Friday and Saturday.
