No. 12 UW-Whitewater downs Volleyball in electrifying five-setter

MEQUON, Wis. – The electric crowd was into every point and the student-athletes on the court didn't disappoint during a give-it-everything, five-setter on Wednesday night inside the R. John Buuck Field House. The result could have gone either way, but No. 12 UW-Whitewater earned a 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 26-28, 15-7) non-conference victory over Concordia Wisconsin.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- All in all, there were 34 scoring ties and 19 lead changes in the match that seemed would go on forever. The Warhawks built a 2-1 sets advantage in the match and had a chance to put an end to the boisterous Falcons crowd, but the hosts weren't going down without a fight.
- UW-Whitewater held a 25-24 match-point opportunity, but an Ashley Jehlicka kill tied the scoreboard at 25-25. Concordia Wisconsin jumped in front after a Warhawk attack error, however, the Falcons gave the following point away to put the score at 26-26. A UW-Whitewater attack error and a Kendall Stribling kill pushed the match to the distance.
- The nationally ranked Warhawks took over the fifth and deciding set, by scoring four-consecutive points to build a 7-3 lead. They would then close the door on the win by scoring the matches final five points.
- Junior Kaily Moegenburg (Plymouth, Wis.) had a team-high 13 kills, to go along with 14 digs, two service aces and two block assists.
- Jehlicka (sophomore, Salem, Wis.) ended with 12 kills, 17 assists, nine digs and two block assists.
- Senior Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) assisted on 23 kills and dug seven attack attempts, while sophomore Lindsey Casper (Hubertus, Wis.) posted 19 digs and five assists.
- Junior Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) had eight kills, two service aces and four block assists.
- Concordia Wisconsin hit a match-best .282 (15K-4E-39A) in the second set, but was a dismal -.095 (4K-6E-21A) in the fifth frame.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman Kendall Stribling (Greenfield, Wis.) had a season-best eight kills on 19 attempts.
- It was the third five-set match of the season for the Falcons.
- The loss snapped a three-match home winning streak.
- Both teams combined for 26 service errors.

THE OPPOSITION
- A quintet of Warhawks smashed double-digit kills, with Alexandra Bialo leading all players with 15 kills. Courtney Wagner had 14 kills, while Lauren Pfiefer and Sydney Racky posted 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
- Staci Hasler directed the offense to the tune of 47 assists, to go along with 12 digs.
- Brittany Robinson led all players with 25 digs. Racky also had a block solo and five block assists. Hasler recorded four block assists.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons return to NACC action for seven-straight matches and host Lakeland on Saturday at 2 pm.
