Volleyball grows stronger in road victory over Marian

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin got better as each set progressed during a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-13) victory at Marian on Tuesday night inside Sadoff Gymnasium. The Falcons remain the lone undefeated team in the NACC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons improved as each set ended on Tuesday night in each facet of the game. They didn't hit the ball well in the opening frame but improved mightily in the second and third sets. As well, in the final deciding set they recorded 3.0 total team blocks.
- Concordia Wisconsin and Marian went back-and-forth during the first half of the opening set before the visitors had enough and went to work. The Falcons went on an 18-7 scoring run to turned a 16-7 scoring deficit into a 25-23 first set win. During the scoring run, Marian had seven attack errors and Concordia Wisconsin served a pair of aces.
- Again in the second frame, it was all the visitors, who put together a 13-6 scoring run that included seven-straight points, which helped them win 25-17 and take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
- Freshman Megan Mayer (Downers Grove, Ill.) came alive in the third set, with six kills to help the Falcons win the third stanza easily, 25-13, and earn another sweep in NACC play.
- Mayer led all players with 10 kills and hit .316 in the match (10K-4E-19A). Juniors Kaily Moegenburg (Plymouth, Wis.) and Terese Zymanek (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) each had eight kills.
- Senior Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) posted 21 assists and sophomore Mackenzie Wockenfus (Appleton, Wis.) saw the first extended playing time of the season and had 19 assists of her own.
- Moegenburg led all players with 11 digs, while junior Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) had a solo block and three block assists. Sophomore Amanda Schultz (North Prairie, Wis.) recorded two solo blocks and a block assist.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- It was the fifth-consecutive 3-0 victory in league play for the Falcons.

THE OPPOSITION
- Alexandra Meidl led the Sabres with six kills, while Amber Baker had 11 assists.
- Andrea Kubicek dug nine attack attempts and Kaitlyn Kelly and Meidl each had two block assists.
