Falcons recognized in NACC postseason awards for success

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin's Megan Mayer received NACC Freshman of the Year honors, while Janelle Katz was named NACC Coach of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons had six players recognized for their efforts this season.

Mayer (freshman, Downers Grove, Ill.) was named the top freshman after playing in 25 matches this season and recording 160 kills (fourth on the team) and a .143 attack percentage. She also had a team-leading 35 service aces, which also ranked 10th among all NACC players. Mayer recorded 127 digs and 24 total blocks on the defensive side of the net. She also received All-NACC Freshman Team honors.

Katz guided the Falcons to their second NACC title in program history and first since 2010. Concordia Wisconsin cruised through the league with an 11-0 record and had an 8-1 record at home. They also were 16-3 in matches decided in three sets.

Sophomore Lindsey Casper (Hubertus, Wis.) was named All-NACC First Team for the first time in her career after digging 435 attack attempts to lead the Falcons. She also had 25 service aces, which was fifth on the team. Casper recorded five matches with double-figure digs, including a career-high 32 against Chicago in the regular season finale.

Junior Kaily Moegenburg (Plymouth, Wis.) was the top offensive threat for Concordia Wisconsin and earned All-NACC First Team accolades. She posted 10 contests with double-figure kill totals, including six during the month of October. Moegenburg also tallied nine double-doubles and had 18 matches with 10 or more digs.

Junior Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) was a force at the net, which resulted in All-NACC First Team honors. She had a team-best 92 total blocks, including nine solo. Nevinski accumulated five or more total blocks in nine matches this season and had a career-high 11 total blocks in a victory over Millikin in September.

Senior Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) received All-NACC Second Team status after assisting on a team-high 522 kills. She also served 27 aces and dug 190 attack attempts. Klotz tallied 20 or more assists in 13 matches and had a season-high 32 in the regular season finale against Chicago.

Freshman Kendall Stribling (Greenfield, Wis.) earned All-NACC Freshman Team recognition after accumulating 83 kills and 37 total blocks. She started 15 matches and smashed eight kills on three occasions. The rookie also had a season-best five total blocks at No. 17 UW-Stevens Point.
