Women's Soccer Falls To UW-Oshkosh

MEQUON, Wis. – In their Tuesday nonconference matchup versus the Titans of UW-Oshkosh, the CUW women's soccer team fell with a final score of 2-1, dropping their record to 5-9-3.

The Titans struck first in the 24th minute as they scored off a shot near the 18-yard box to take the 1-0 lead.
At the 40:53 mark, freshman Kassi Herrmann (Cologne, Minn.) drew a foul inside the box after receiving a pass tight to the six-yard line from senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.).

On the penalty pick, freshman Lanie Czerkies (Joliet, Ill.) blasted the ball high and down the middle, soaring past the Oshkosh keeper and into the back of the net to score her first collegiate goal and tie the game 1-1.

The score would remain 1-1 heading into halftime.

But the 62nd minute would see the Titans regain their one-goal advantage.

Despite the Blue and White's best effort, they were unable to respond with a second equalizer, falling with a final score of 2-1.

Defensively, junior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) recorded three saves in 90 minutes of play.

The Falcons will have less than 24 hours before their next contest, when they host the Muskies of Lakeland University on Wednesday, Oct. 25th, at 3:30 p.m. to close out their regular season.
