APPLETON, Wis. – The Falcons posted a thrilling shutout victory on the road on Friday evening at Lawrence. The Blue and White picked up a 1-0 victory over the Vikings to open the 2023 campaign on the right foot.
The Falcons were able to capitalize on a corner play in the 19th minute. Senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) connected off tic-tac-toe pass from junior Isabella Rapp (Grafton, Wis.) and freshman Lanie Czerkies (Joliet, Ill.).
The Vikings looked to capitalize on a penalty kick in the 49th minute, but junior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) came up with a save.
Brooke Braga collected eight saves in the shutout victory.
Lawrence held a 14-13 advantage in shots on Friday. Senior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the attack with five shots.
The Blue and White have now started the year with a clean sheet for the last five years.
The Falcons wasted no time returning to action and will play at Lake Forest on Saturday.
