Peppers finishes as NCAA statistical ground ball champions

MEQUON, Wis. – Hayley Peppers finished the season as the NCAA Division III statistical champion for ground balls per game. The Falcons finished the year with the most wins in program history and set a multitude of records as a team and by several individuals.

Peppers (junior, Franktown, Colo.) led the nation with a 7.35 ground balls per game average. In fact, she led entire nation – all divisions. She had a program record 125 ground balls this season and set the program's single game record for ground balls five different times. On April 8, she scooped up 18 ground balls against Aurora University to set the program's game record.

CUW finished second nationally in NCAA Division III with a 33.29 ground balls per game average. The Falcons had 30 or more ground balls in 11 games, including 40 or more in five contests. They set the program's single game record with 62 ground balls in a home victory over Loras College on April 26. CUW set the program's season record for ground balls with 566, which was over 200 more than the previous record set last season.

The Falcons also ranked 10th in scoring margin (7.12) and 12th in scoring offense (15.76).

In addition, junior Sammi Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.) concluded the season 11th nationally with a 5.18 ground balls per game average.
