Reiter named MWLC Offensive Player of the Year

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Sammi Reiter was named Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday, as voted on by the head coaches. Concordia University Wisconsin had a total of seven players recognized by the conference.

Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.) was also named All-MWLC First Team as a midfielder for her efforts this season. She was the Falcons main offensive threat and has 83 points, 65 goals, 18 assists, 92 shots on goal, 16 free-position markers, 87 ground balls and 64 draw control wins. The junior midfielder ranked 21st nationally in goals and 32nd in points. She is also ranked ninth nationally in ground balls (5.44 per game).

Reiter set six single season program records and owns five career statistical records. In addition, she set two individual game records (goals and free-position goals). It was the second time in her career she was named All-MWLC First Team (2011), as she was also MWLC Newcomer of the Year in 2011.

Junior Hannah Redden (Libertyville, Ill.), junior Hayley Peppers (Franktown, Colo.), sophomore Sabrina Boehlke (Random Lake, Wis.), sophomore Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.) and freshman Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) all earned All-MWLC Second Team honors.

Redden – attacker – set career highs in every statistical category and owns the program's single season and career record for assists. She has 51 points, 26 goals, 25 assists and two free-position scores this season. Redden also set two individual records this year for points and assists in a home victory over Loras College.

Peppers – midfielder – is currently (as of April 27) the nation's leader in ground balls with a 7.56 per game average. She picked up 10 or more ground balls five times this season and owns the program's single season and career record for ground balls. In addition, Peppers was a threat on the draw control and on defense. She is third in the MWLC with 57 draw control wins and second with 21 caused turnovers.

Boehlke – defender – had a career year with 46 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. She was eighth in conference play with 28 ground balls. Boehlke not only played well defensively, but also was a threat on the offensive end of the field with 13 goals and three assists.

Pauletti – defender – was solid defensively with 25 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. She had a caused turnover in 10-of-15 games played this season and picked up multiple ground balls in seven contests. Pauletti set career bests in seven statistical categories this year.

Metanova – goaltender – anchored the Falcons defense with a 7-4 record, 115 saves and a .502 save percentage. She ranks 28th nationally in save percentage and is third in MWLC play with 69 saves and a .473 save percentage. Metanova made double-digit saves in six contests this season.

Junior Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) was named to the MWLC All-Sportsmanship Team. The midfielder had a career year with 46 points, 30 goals, 16 assists, 74 ground balls, 42 draw control wins and 20 caused turnovers. She is fifth in league play with 46 ground balls and ninth with 13 caused turnovers.

CUW (12-4, 8-2 MWLC) competes against Carthage College (10-6, 8-2 MWLC) in a semifinal MWLC Tournament contest on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Thorson-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Ill.
