Women's Lacrosse chosen fourth in MWLC Preseason Coaches' Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin was chosen to finish fourth in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced Wednesday morning.

CUW had its best season in program history to date with a 7-8 overall record and a 5-3 record in conference play. The Falcons set a multitude of game and single season records, as made the MWLC Tournament for the first time.

Augustana College was picked to win the 2014 MWLC. The Vikings (17-4, 8-0 MWLC) placed first in the poll with 111 points, including 10 of the 11 first place votes. They earned the MWLC regular season and tournament crowns in its first year as a conference member last spring.

Carthage College (11-7, 6-2 MWLC) placed second in the poll with 94 points after earning a spot in the MWLC tournament last season. North Central College (12-5, 7-1 MWLC) had 93 points and CUW earned 79 points to placed third and fourth, respectively, after earning a spot in the MWLC tournament a year ago.

College Mount St. Joseph (7-6, 4-4 MWLC) was fifth with 78 points, while Beloit College (4-7, 2-6 MWLC) was sixth with 64 points and one first place vote.

Aurora University (5-10, 3-5 MWLC) had 59 points, Fontbonne University (2-9, 1-7 MWLC) received 46 points and Benedictine University (1-11, 0- 8 MWLC) had 41 points to finish seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Loras College (35 points) and University Dubuque (26 points) enter the poll at 10th and 11th, as both teams enter their inaugural season.

The 2014 season opens on February 22. The MWLC portion of the schedule will begin on March 8 with the MWLC Tournament slated for May 2-3.
