Balanced offense leads Women's Lacrosse past Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's offense was firing on all cylinders Thursday night, as it earned a convincing 21-11 victory at Beloit College during Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play at Strong Stadium.

The Falcons set game records for points with 33, tied the record with 21 draw control wins and tied the program's record for assists in a game with 12. They have now scored 20 or more goals four times this season and won by double-figures in six contests.

Junior Hayley Peppers (Franktown, Colo.) was one several players who had productive nights, as she finished with a career-high seven points, including a career-best five goals. Her seven points is one shy of tying the program's single game record. Junior Sammi Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.) tallied five goals, including two free-position markers.

CUW scored two or more goals in a row on six different occasions during the victory, and ended with a 34-14 lead in shots on goal and won 21-of-30 draw controls. They also forced 19 turnovers and cleared 11-of-12 attempts.

Junior Hannah Redden (Libertyville, Ill.) had an impressive night with six points (three goals, career-high-tying three assists), while juniors Stephanie Barry (Gurnee, Ill.) and Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) each had hat tricks.

The Falcons attacked from all angles, but shared the ball in the process. Senior Aly Pinkos (South Milwaukee, Wis.) tied her career high with four points, including three assists. Sophomore Jenna Brown (Roseville, Minn.) also dished out a career-best three assists.

Peppers led CUW defensively with six ground balls, to go along with seven draw control wins. Reiter won a game-high eight draw controls and Heckendorf recorded three ground balls and four draw controls wins. Senior Breanne Geipel (Hartland, Wis.) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Sara Fithian led the Bucaneers (8-6, 4-3 MWLC) with four goals, while Libby Storrick had three goals. Hannah Drexler and Michelle Dillon each had a pair of goals, respectively.

The positive decision extends the Falcons record for wins in a season and keeps them in second place in the MWLC standings.

CUW (10-3, 6-1 MWLC) begins a three-game homestand to conclude the regular season on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. matchup against Carthage College.
