Evans sets record with 56 saves, Women's Hockey loses at No. 7 Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Kaitlyn Evans recorded a program record 56 saves on Wednesday evening, but Concordia University Wisconsin dropped a 7-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association contest at No. 7 Lake Forest College inside the Alumni Memorial Rink.

Evans (sophomore, Fairbanks, Alaska) made 19, 17 and 20 saves, respectively, in the three periods but the Foresters offense was too powerful. Her 56 saves was tied for sixth most in NCHA history. Early this season Evans finished with 52 saves in a 4-4 tie at the College of St. Scholastica.

LFC (14-2-4, 11-1-4 NCHA) scored seven unanswered goals and outshot CUW by a 63-31 margin. The Foresters' Michelle Greeneway put the final touches on the game with a hat trick in the third period to give them their 12th-consecutive win.

CUW's Emily Heckendorf (sophomore, Merrill, Wis.) tallied her fourth goal of the season with an unassisted score just over a minute into the contest.

LFC responded with a goal by Laura Reckdenwald and Maeve Connelly to own a 2-1 advantage after one period of play. Marissa Weber marked the scoreboard for the second frame's only score to extend the Foresters advantage to 3-1.

The floodgates opened for LFC in the third period with four goals in 16 minutes. Greeneway scored the first of her three goals less than three minutes into the stanza. Sara Gilbride scored her first goal of the season prior to Greeneway scoring two goals two minutes and 37 seconds apart.

Stacey Dierking stayed undefeated between the pipes (11-0-0) with 30 saves for the Foresters.

CUW returns to action on this weekend for its final series of the season with two games at UW-Eau Claire. Friday's NCHA game is set for 7 p.m.
