UW-River Falls end Falcons two-game win streak in overwhelming fashion

MEQUON, Wis. – It was quite the offensive display by No. 6/6 UW-River Falls as they managed to score seven first frame goals against Concordia University Wisconsin, winning 10-0 in a dominant manner at the Ozaukee Ice Center Friday evening during Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play.

The Falcons of UW-River Falls (6-2-2, 5-2-2 NCHA) wasted no time placing the pressure on the Falcons of CUW (2-8-2, 2-6-2 NCHA), as they amassed two goals within a mere minute of each other to start the first frame. The barrage of goals continued for UW-RF as the stanza progressed, firing five more shots in to the back of the net before the end of the opening period.

Freshman forward Chloe Kinsel led the way for UW-Rf as she scored a hat trick in addition to two assists on the evening. The impressive play of Kinsel set the tone for the Falcons as they fed off of her stellar performance for the duration of the game. Seven other members of the Falcons managed to find the back of the net, including a four-point performance (one goal, three assists) by sophomore forward Crysta Lowell.

CUW played all three of their goalies in the contest totaling 28 saves for the game. Sophomore Andrea Mizanskey (Palos Height, Ill.) managed to save 19 shots in a game-high 43:54 minutes of action. The 10 goals given up tied a program record for most goals allowed, which happened twice prior against UW-Stevens Point in 2008 and 2009.

CUW will return to the ice Saturday for a rematch against UW-River Falls at the Ozaukee Ice Center. The puck is set to drop at 4:30 p.m.
