Chambers scores her 1000th point in a victory over Alverno

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons soared in a convincing 70-24 victory over Alverno on Tuesday night. The victory sends CUW to 7-3 on the year and to 5-2 in the NACC.  Late in the fourth quarter, senior Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) scored her 1000th career point.

"This was a great team victory," said head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones. "We were all so excited for Clara and this is an amazing achievement and we are so proud of her. This is an incredible milestone for her and this team. I am so happy for Clara, she has put in so much hard work over the years and this is a testament to all of her work that she has put in."

With the game tied at two, the Falcons broke open the game with a 14-0 run. The Blue and White led 22-5 after the first quarter. Freshman Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led CUW with six points, while senior Hannah Boettcher (Columbus, Wis.) and senior Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) had five points each.

CUW extended the lead to 35-14 at halftime, with Emily Hafemann adding nine points in the second quarter.

The Falcons' offense exploded for another 22 points in the third quarter, where Clara Chambers started getting hot with eight points.

Late in the fourth quarter, Chambers went up for a layup to score her 1000th career point. The senior did so in her 100th career game.

Chambers led all scorers on Tuesday with 19 points and added 10 rebounds for her second career double-double performance.

Emily Hafemann had 17 points in the victory, while senior Hannah Boettcher led CUW with five assists.

CUW held a 45-31 rebounding advantage on Tuesday, with Clara Chambers and Deidre Lassiter securing 10.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday against Lake Forest for senior day.
