Women’s Basketball falls at Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team fell short on the road on Wednesday at Loras, 92-84. The Duhawks defended home court to send each team to 1-1 on the year and split the season series.

The two teams battled from start to finish on Wednesday night. The Falcons were able to hold onto a 15-14 lead after 10 minutes and a 41-35 lead at halftime.

Sophomore Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.) went off for 14 points in the second quarter.

The Duhawks cut the Concordia lead to 60-59 after 30 minutes.

The Purple and Gold outscored the Falcons in the fourth quarter, 33-24, to secure the victory.

Lindsey Smitsdorff led all players with a career-high 26 points and tied her career-high she established on Saturday with 11 rebounds.

Senior Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) ended with 21 points and a team-high seven assists. Senior Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) also added 15 points and four assists.

The 82 points are the most for CUW since Feb. 1, 2020, where the Falcons downed Rockford, 102-39. The 18 assists are the most since Feb. 15, 2020, against Marian.

The Falcons will return home to play MSOE on Saturday, where Stacey Brunner-Jones will once again aim for her 300th victory.
