CIT canceled for 2021
SEWARD, Neb. - In a joint decision made by the presidents of the competing institutions, the 2021 Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT) has been canceled (as announced on Tuesday, Aug. 25). Concordia University Nebraska was scheduled to host what would have been the 70th annual CIT on Jan. 29-30, 2021. Concordia Nebraska will now host in 2022 on Jan. 28-29. CUW will now host CIT in 2023.
CIT was played for the first time in 1951 when it was played in St. Louis, Missouri. Women's basketball first became part of CIT in 1973. Cheerleading and dance competitions were added to CIT in 2018.
The CUW men have won four titles with victories in 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2019. The women's basketball program has won three titles in 1993, 1995 and 2007. The dance program has taken the crown in 2018 and 2020.
