Women’s Basketball reels in Lakeland in the NACC opener

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The CUW women's basketball team opened NACC play with a 55-50 victory. The victory pushes CUW to 3-1 on the young season and 1-0 in the NACC. Lakeland opens the year at 0-1.

The Falcons opened the game with a 4-9 deficit after the first quarter.

The Muskies pushed the lead to 11 points at 19-8 with 5:34 left in the second quarter.

The Falcons continued to chip away at the Lakeland lead and went into halftime trailing, 24-26.

The Blue and White exploded in the third quarter with 27 points to take a 51-38 lead into the fourth quarter. Senior Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) led all players with 12 points in the quarter.

CUW was able to hold on in the fourth quarter and open NACC play with a victory.

Emily Hafemann led all players with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Senior Hannah Boettcher (Columbus, Wis.) led CUW with four assists; she also added 14 points and seven rebounds.

CUW held a 38-35 rebounding advantage on Friday night.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at Lakeland.
