Men's Lacrosse picked to finish fourth in MLC Preseason Coaches' Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin was selected to finish fourth in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced Wednesday morning.

A season ago the Falcons finished 9-7 overall and 6-4 in conference play. CUW enters the 2014 campaign with six seniors, the first senior class in program history, and eight juniors. They also have 28 underclassmen comprising a roster of 42 players.

Aurora University was chosen to win the 2014 MLC title with 10 of the 11 first place votes. The Spartans (16-4, 10-0 MLC) earned the MLC title and Tournament championship last season.

Augustana College (11-6, 8-2 MLC) finished second in the poll with 97 points and one first place vote, while Carthage College (15-4, 9-1 MLC) also tallied 97 points. Both the Vikings and Red Men participated in the 2013 MLC Tournament.

Benedictine University (6-9, 4-5 MLC) placed sixth in the poll with 68 points and was followed by Hanover College (5-11, 3-7 MLC) with 59 points. Elmhurst College (3-10, 1-8 MLC) had 44 points, Fontbonne University (8-8, 4-6 MLC) received 39 points and MSOE (0-12, 0-9 MLC) had 24 points for eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively.

Defiance College (0-15, 0-8 MLC) rounded out the poll in 11th place with 27 points.

The 2014 season begins on February 7. The MLC portion of the schedule will begin on March 1 with the MLC Tournament slated for April 30 and May 3.
