CUW Baseball, Softball hosted First Pitch Banquet Wednesday night

MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball and Softball teams, along with the Lakeshore Chinooks, hosted a First Pitch Banquet Wednesday, April 2, at the Highland House.

Players, families and fans of the programs gathered for a social hour, dinner and raffle. Former Milwaukee Brewer and current analyst on FS Wisconsin, Jerry Augustine, was the guest speaker. Augustine spoke about his time as a head coach of UW-Milwaukee, as well as the Brewers and took questions from those in attendance.

"This was a great event that will only get bigger and better in the future," said CUW and Lakeshore head coach Eddy Morgan. We truly appreciate the support from the Highland House for hosting the event and also everybody in attendance. It was a great night for CUW athletics and the Lakeshore Chinooks."

The banquet was held as a fundraiser towards a proposed hitting facility at Kapco Park that would serve all three teams as well as the local youth organizations. The Highland House previously donated $50,000 towards the facility back in November.

"We want to raise the standard in our baseball and softball programs and the funds generated will go directly toward a state of the art hitting facility," Morgan said.

In addition to Augustine, both Morgan and Steve Crook, head coach of the CUW Softball team, spoke about their current teams.

Also on hand was Dean Rennicke, Vice President and General Manager of the Lakeshore Chinooks. Rennicke spoke about the Chinooks history and future and provided the introduction for Augustine. CUW Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill provided an introduction to the evening.

The CUW Baseball and Softball teams would like to thank all those who attended the first annual First Pitch Banquet and helped make the event a success.
