Women's Tennis Excels in 2021 Season

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's tennis team snagged an NCAA Tournament berth after claiming the NACC crown from Edgewood.

In May, junior Jennifer Mies (Brookfield, Wis.) claimed the NACC final Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the 2021 season.  In the week, Mies went 2-0 at no. 3 doubles.  The Falcons as a whole claimed the honor on six occasions during the 2021 season through juniors Mia Andre (Cedarburg, Wis.) and Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) as well as freshman Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).

The Falcons went 7-1 on the season in NACC Conference play and toppled Edgewood 5-4 to advance to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.  This was their first time back to the NCAA Tournament since 2018 and the 10th tournament title in program history.

The NACC championship match saw a lot of lead changes.  The Falcons were down 1-3 after doubles and the first point in singles.  They didn't give up bringing it back to four all after a comeback victory from junior Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.).

The Falcons ended up faltering in the NCAA Tournament falling 5-0 to Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The Blue and White are set to come back for the 2021-22 season and look to repeat in conference and cruise into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
