Women's Tennis Sweeps St. Norbert in NACC Semifinals

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team beat the rain and the Green Knights on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons secured a 5-0 victory over St. Norbert in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament Semifinals. The victory sends the Falcons to 20-6 on the season.

The spectacular senior duo of Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) sank St. Norbert at No.1 doubles, 8-0.

Freshman Sofia Buhr (Blumenau, Brazil) and senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) brought out the brooms at No. 2 doubles with the 8-0 victory.

Senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and junior Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) wrapped up doubles play with an 8-4 victory.

Junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) pounced on Alyssa Tegen at No. 6 singles, with a 6-2, 6-1 victory for the fourth point of the match.

Mallory Moen clinched the match at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Anna Vechart.

The Falcons did not drop a set on Thursday with Ricki Budewitz, Sofia Buhr and Ashley Samuta all winning their first sets.

This is the third time in program history that the Falcons have won 20 matches in a season.

The Falcons advance to the NACC Tournament Finals on Sunday morning in Kohler, Wisconsin. They will face the winner of Friday's semifinal match against Edgewood and Wisconsin Lutheran. The first serve is scheduled for 10:00.
