Women’s Tennis Shines in the Sun

MEQUON, Wis. – After the storm clouds of Wednesday rolled away, the Falcons shined under the sun on Monday when they resumed the match against WLC and won all seven matches that were played to secure an 8-1 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran. The victory sends CUW to 6-4 on the year and keeps the Falcons in the driver's seat in the NACC at 3-0.

Before the storms came on Wednesday, junior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and freshman Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) secured an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Junior Jennifer Mies (Brookfield, Wis.) and freshman Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) edged out an 8-7 victory at No. 3 doubles to start Monday's play.

Ricki Budewitz made quick work of Kaytlyn Hartfield at No. 1 singles at 6-1, 6-0.

Junior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis. )then outmuscled Katelynn Haskell at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 0-6, 7-6.

Jennifer Mies moved past Izzy Hawley at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Ashley Samuta sank Gabrielle Medema at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

Mallory Moen topped Jena Smith on court five, 6-3, 6-4.

At No. 6 singles, junior Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.) secured the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sky Pope.

The Falcons look to protect home court again on Saturday against MSOE.
