MEQUON, Wis. – The Lutes of Pacific Lutheran completed their Wisconsin road trip with a 3-1 victory over the Falcons on Friday evening to improve to 2-0-0 on the year. The loss sends CUW to 1-1-0 on the young season.

The Lutes controlled the tempo in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime and left the Falcons without a shot on goal.

Junior Karoline Haugland put the first shot on the PLU net in the 49th minute. That was the first shot on the net for the Lutes' defense in two games.

The visitors from Washington scored the next two goals to take a commanding lead.

The Falcons found the back of the net in the 74th minute off a corner from junior Jordan Lafferty (Surprise, Ariz.). Junior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) was able to get enough on the ball to get the shot past the keeper off a pass from freshman Carmen Rowe (Copley, Ohio).

The Blue and White had an opportunity to get back in the match, but could not connect on a penalty kick in the 89th minute.

Freshman Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) boasted 10 saves on Friday night.

The Lutes held a 22-8 shots advantage on Friday. Selena Esten led the flock with three shots.

CUW looks to bounce back on Wednesday at Loras.
