Women’s Soccer Claimed Another NACC Title in 2021

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's soccer team defended its NACC crown in 2021. The Falcons claimed their fifth title in program history with a 14-4-0 record and a 12-1-0 NACC record.

Junior Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) and junior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) both earned USC All-Region honors with Haugland on the second team and Esten on the third team.

Junior Jordan Lafferty also shined in the classroom and claimed CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

In total, the Falcons landed seven All-NACC selections with Selena Esten, Karoline Haugland, senior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and freshman Carmen Rowe (Copley, Ohio) on the first team and Jordan Lafferty, senior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) and senior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) on the second team.

Esten also earned the NACC Offensive Player of the Year title.

The Falcons scored four or more goals on eight separate occasions. They scored a season-high 10 goals against Alverno.

Selena Esten claimed the NACC Offensive Player of the Week title on three separate occasions. Kailey Sterkel was a two-time NACC Defensive Player of the Week recipient.

Selena Esten led the flock with 49 points on 23 goals and three assists.

Jordan Lafferty led CUW with 11 assists.

The CUW defense was also solid in 2021 with 12 shutouts. Kaeley Sterkel secured eight shutouts.  

The Falcons will go for their third-straight NACC title in 2022.
